Although this was a small gripe when playing such an immersive game such as Cuphead it really takes you out of the moment which you get lost in but I think this does, in the end, add to the charm of the game showing much like animation at the time it was set that it is not perfect but it was as they learned and developed which is what Cuphead is all about. Because of this the passion emanates from the visuals provided, this could also be the reason why many like myself say that the game feels like the old cartoons which are important because those cartoons build up all of the foundations for Cuphead to be a success and provided the perfect world for the developers of Cuphead to put there heart and soul into the game and get it just how they wanted.Īlthough I do love how Cuphead has handled its art style although I do feel that the game lacks in color on occasion which can make the game feel sluggish, these times are few and far between and it may well just be down to the way in which it was created that gives this effect. You get to know particular designs and the reasons why they designed the characters the way they did’ (Giret, 2018)įrom this quote, we can see why the game has the art style it does and just why so much passion was poured into its creation as well as this you can see why it was important for Moldenhauer to get the process as authentic as he could as to him it was part of his childhood and he wanted to do it justice. ‘I’ve watched a lot of Fleischer cartoons – a whole lot. I think through using this process that Moldenhauer really captured the essence of what those cartoons were and translated it perfectly into a game environment, which is part of the reason why everyone is in awe of the visuals of the game as it envokes the exact same feelings as the old cartoons from its roots while presenting them in a new and fresh way packaged with actually fun gameplay and a score to match. Looking at how Cuphead’s lead art director made sure that he went through the long way using rotoscope animation which is a hard and time-consuming process, just so that the game would have the exact same feel as the old cartoons that he wanted the game to be based on. ‘hand-painted watercolor backgrounds, and hand-drawn fonts,’ (Futon, 2018)Ĭuphead has some amazing visuals created by the art team, this is mostly thanks to the detailed watercolour backgrounds that reside in the main overworld and on every background of each level, this was done so that the art team could faithfully create a 1930’s feel as most cartoons at the time had a distinct background being created with watercolor and using this effect shows how much work went into creating each stage of the game as they couple this with the bouncy animation style and it makes for a fully faithfull recreation and a game that feels like your playing a 1930’s cartoon. The inspiration clearly comes from the design of Cuphead and his enemies all shearing similar characteristic to that used in the classic Disney animations. Although the games art director ‘Chad Moldenhauer obviously took inspiration from a multitude of sources that use this style there is hard to argue about the overbearing favorite of Disney and there character Mickey Mouse who is probably one of modern-day cultures most well know characters to use this style. The first thing I want to discuss is the design of Cuphead and Mugman and how it was clearly chosen to emulate the old limited and tedious animation and art style of rubber hose where characters and objects appear with long tube-like libs and everything is very bouncy and flamboyant. From doing some research into the development of Cuphead I discovered all kinds of different techniques that helped breath new life into the old animation style of the 1930’s and do something that most other games don’t by making me actually care about this style and appreciate just how much work went into its creation. Cuphead has been one of my favorite games of recent memory, it combines solid gameplay, a good soundtrack, and a beautiful art style all of which come together to give Cuphead its charm. From looking at Cuphead it’s hard to deny that it was inspired by Rubber hose animation from the Characters design to how it was actually created having every frame painstakingly hand drawn all emulate that 1930’s era of cartoon animation. Ubisoft announced Ghost Recon Frontline and its Closed Test for PC just last week now the testing session in question has received an indefinite delay. She returns his gaze and, later, noting his height and looks, decides to bring him gradually into her service. In her honor, a ceremonial coin is minted in India, which has been under formal British rule for nearly three decades. The story begins in 1887, with the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, the 50th anniversary of her ascension to the throne. Victoria & Abdul, by contrast, is an elegant yet sprightly romp-albeit one that has been justifiably criticized for historical revisionism regarding the relationship between Britain and the Raj, as well as for the relatively two-dimensional portrait of Karim. Brown was a slow and somewhat awkward period drama. Despite strong performances by Dench and Billy Connolly (as Brown), Mrs. That is, however, more or less where the resemblances between the two films end. Victoria, who lost her beloved husband, Prince Albert, 24 years into her 64-year reign, never remarried, and both Brown and, subsequently, Karim served as important servant-companions in her later years. It is worth noting that, despite some liberties taken, both films are based on real-life events. The film concerns the queen’s close relationship with a common-born Indian Muslim man named Abdul Karim, a relationship that was regarded with concern and envy by her court and family. Returning a whopping 76.3mpg on the combined cycle, you couldn’t really ask for much more. What's really impressive is the feisty 1.5-litre dCi 90bhp diesel model, if only for its superb fuel economy and lively performance. The steering is light yet positive, and the suspension works well to offer a smooth ride. The Captur’s suspension has a nice sporty feel about it, and the car grips and handles beautifully. The E-Tech hybrid Captur is a little more weighty, but that’s nothing compared with the plug-in hybrid model, which is a fair bit heavier due to its larger battery pack. It reduces torque and modifies throttle response to suit, and can even automatically adjust the air conditioning and heating output for maximum efficiency. There's also an eco mode button, which reduces performance to aid fuel economy. Some could say knee room is on the tight side, but there's enough room to let average-sized adults sit in the back without being too squeezed together. The lack of a four-wheel drive version will put few off and although most will assume the diesel engine is the only one to go for, ignoring this petrol engine is not advised.Coming in 100mm taller and 60mm longer than the Clio, the Captur offers masses of interior space for its size. Lots of storage solutions throughout the cabin combine with a generous 724-litre boot this can grow to 1,388 litres should you not require use of the rear seats. Where the Renault exceeds the most is in its practical nature. The higher driving position is a plus although the Renault doesn't exactly tower above other vehicles on the road. Out of town the Renault does suffer from a degree of body roll when cornering at higher speeds, but generally it feels composed on the road. Those looking to stretch the distance between fill-ups will still need to drive rather frugally in order to get the most from it. One practical feature is the car's seat covers that can be unzipped easily and removed either for cleaning or if you wanted to change them for a different colour or fabric finish.ĭriving the Captur around town allows the small petrol engine to prove its worth as it demonstrates that this sort of unit can still hold some relevance. Higher trim levels do get the tablet-like display for the centre console, similar to that seen on the new Clio, but aside from that much of the cabin still retains that all-too-familiar Renault trait of using vast swathes of hard plastic although in this instance is better than past models. On the inside, the Captur isn't quite as striking. Ensuring that ground is firm underneath is also recommended as Renault only offers front-wheel drive on the Captur. For the majority of potential Captur buyers, ground clearance won't be high on the agenda but should the mood take you, it does have adequate ride height to cope with some light off-roading. The Captur's crossover DNA means that for most it is just the right height to step into rather than up into, and although it offers good visibility of the road ahead don't expect to be able to peer over other road-users' roofs. Even in a more modest single colour, the Captur still exudes fun and modernity. The Captur's look is similar to that of the new Clio, which is no bad thing. With styling that sits on the more extrovert side of the segment, Renault's contender is clearly aimed at a younger buyer - something that is made all the more obvious by this test car's bright orange bodywork and contrasting white roof. Taking these two properties into account, Renault should be due a generous slice of the market with its new Captur. The SUV crossover market owes a lot of its success to the practicality that has been engineered into the various vehicles, but also to the fact that the image of a small SUV sits so well with many people these days. Not so good: no real off-road ability, interior finish. A prolonged downward trend in energy product demand from Asia will bring increased pressure to strengthen political ties and avenues of economic cooperation. Qatar, like many GCC states, has pivoted to Asia as a key destination for its energy exports. It is now a buyer’s market and many analysts expect energy prices to stay low for as long as until 2020. That flexibility may increase Qatari options for renegotiating prices and contracts in a new era of lower energy demand. If demand in China continues to decline, the Qatari’s ability to show some flexibility in delivery (for instance, increasing delivery during winter months) will be a sign to the Chinese of goodwill and customer service. The Qataris are showing some willingness to bargain with China, particularly in its long-term delivery contracts with PetroChina and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). Like many of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, economic relations with Asia are increasingly important to Qatar’s fiscal position and its long-term export market. Approximately 75 percent of Qatar’s LNG exports in 2014 went to Asia. Qatari gas is largely exported to Asia and prices in long-term contracts are indexed to the fluctuating price of oil. Malaysia is currently the number two LNG exporter with Australia, Nigeria, and Indonesia following. As other suppliers are able to export their products to market, due to a massive investment in infrastructure to package and deliver LNG from Australia and the United States, Qatari market share could decrease to 20 percent by 2020. Qatar currently commands nearly a third of the global market for LNG. As the shale revolution has unsettled oil supply and price in the last year (along with substantial decrease in demand from Asia), gas suppliers are also seeing more competition from the West, namely the United States and Australia. Gas deliveries are also generally scheduled in long-term contracts, often tied to the price of oil, giving gas suppliers less flexibility in price negotiations when market conditions change. Global LNG supply is expected to grow 50 percent by 2020, faster than projected demand. Like the oil market, global supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is increasing. |
